Excellent Estimator
Every Friday we have an estimation activity. We make estimates, count the contents,
and arrange piles of ones, tens, and sometimes even hundreds and thousands. It is
such a great "hands on" math activity. It makes the concept of place value very
concrete for the students. Look for the Estimation Jar (plastic) in your child's
backpack; a different child will be responsible for the jar each week! Last year we
counted things like legos, bouncy balls, cotton balls, erasers, etc.
Did I mention it's a really fun activity????
